Making an Insurance Claim

As the insurance claim is the first step to recovery, it’s important to understand what to do.

If you have to make a claim, we will work with you and make sure that it’s handled fairly and without delay.  In most cases your claim can be handled locally, using local suppliers to repair or replace your insured items.

In the event of a loss, the ability to process a claim becomes critical. We understand the importance of professional and proactive claims handling and our dedicated in-house team is  in place to manage all type of claims.

You must notify us of a new claim as soon as possible – This will allow us to record the incident/loss and advise your insurer

  • Take photographs (using your mobile phone)
  • Give us all the details about your claim.
  • Provide any quotations for repairs

We will notify your insurer and advise if we require additional information and/or notify you when we have appointed a loss adjuster/loss assessor.

If you need to undertake emergency repairs to minimise or prevent further damage, please keep  copies of all invoices and bills so we can provide these to your insurer.

In the event of a Car Accident – It’s important you have a clear idea of what to do in the event of an accident.  Not only will this help you to make decisions about what to do at the scene of the accident, but it will also ensure you cover your legal obligations.

You must stop if involved in an accident – Your policy may be affected if you fail to stop. If any person is injured or property (other than vehicles) or livestock is damaged, you must report the accident to the police.

Notify the emergency services – Call 000.  if any person is injured, property is damaged or if there is a hazard to traffic you must report the accident to the police if the owner of any of the vehicles or property is not present.

Exchange details with other people involved in the accident – Ask for all drivers’, passengers’ and witnesses’ names, addresses and contact phone numbers. Record all registration numbers of all vehicles involved. Request driver’s licence numbers from all drivers. Don’t forget to take photos using your mobile phone.

Do not admit liability or make promises of immediate repairs/approvals.

Should you have any queries or wish to discuss a claim, please do not hesitate to contact Connie in our office.
